HICforFAIR Workshop

"Current Topics in Accelerator-, Astro- and Plasmaphysics"

Institute for Applied Physics (IAP)
J.W. Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main
Haus Bergkranz, Riezlern, Austria, March 11th - 17th 2012

The HICforFAIR Workshop "Current Topics in Accelerator-, Astro- and Plasmaphysics" organized by the Institute of Applied Physics, J.W. Goethe-University Frankfurt will take place from March 11th to March 17th 2012 in Riezlern / Austria at the venue "Haus Bergkranz" owned by the J.W. Goethe-University Frankfurt.

The workshop aims at bringing together scientists and students from the organizing institute with national and international experts in the addressed fields and thus to give a lasting impact on the existing collaborations.

FAIR-relevant activities are in the center of attention, as for example:

  • Upgrade measures on the existing GSI UNILAC and SIS-18 accelerators, in order to provide the beam intensities required for the FAIR facility operation.
  • Design and prototyping activities on individual FAIR facility accelerator and storage ring components (e.g. the rf prototype for the 70 MeV FAIR Proton Linac, beam collimator systems for SIS-18 and SIS-100, the HESR electron cooler etc.).
  • Involvement of the Frankfurt plasma- and astrophysics groups in the corresponding FAIR collaborations.

The workshop registration is already closed.
