A5: Advanced numerical methods for correlated quantum gases (Fleischhauer/ Eggert)

In this project, we plan to develop, implement and apply exact numerical simulation methods for strongly correlated many-body systems in 1 and 1 + spatial dimensions in particular DMRG, TMRG and time-dependent-DMRG methods specifically adapted to experiments with ultracold quantum gases and other model systems studied within the SFB/TRR.
For guidance and support of the experimental and theoretical-analytical investigations of the various model systems studied within the SFB/TRR it is necessary to develop and implement a toolbox of adequate exact numerical methods. Cross-fertilisation of this and the other projects related to ultracold gases (Bloch (A1), Kuhr/Bloch (A2), Hofstetter (A3)) and magnons (Hillebrands/Serha (A7), Kopietz (A8)) is expected and the numerical expertise developed here will be transferred and applied to other low-dimensional many-body systems to be studied in (Blümer (A6), Wolf/Lang (B1), Jeschke/Valentí (B2), Eggert (B3), Aßmus/Ritter (B4), Wagner/Holthausen/Baumgarten (B5), Aeschlimann/Felser/Schönhense (B8)).
